Picture above is her first "cruise" from builders yard in Quincy to Boston Naval Shipyard, across Boston Harbor, in preparation for fitting out and commissioning ceremonies (1958). Note Beth Steel flag from yardarm, ensign at aft mast, and lack of crew.

Mullinnix was one of many ships named after US Naval Aviators.
