the USS Kitty Hawk in San Diego in late summer '73.
Man, did we miss him!!!

I found him after 31 years in Sept 2004!

What great great memories!!!

...And the walls came down...all the way to hell...

"Concert By The Sea" It was an all day event held on the old abandoned Pungo Airstrip. We drove down the night before in Stan Stockam’s yellow van and other vehicles. We found an abandoned barn and partied all night. It was hotter than hell that day - sun beating down on the concrete and concert goers. Extremely tight security with a number of narcotic arrests, drug overdoes and heat-related issues. They kept announcing "stay away from downers" due to the heat. Hence, we kept popping 'uppers' - figuring it couldn't hurt, RIGHT? There was a big party the night before at the crossroads just up the road from the festival grounds. I remember the traffic jam! The bands (the best that Shorty and I can remember) were: 1. Savoy Brown (the headliner) 2. Black Oak Arkansas (they may have made an album of this) 3. J Geiles Band (maybe) 4. The New Cactus Band 5. Bloodrock 6. Foghat (maybe, maybe not) 7. Blue Oyster Cult 8. Tower of Power (possibly) 9. ZZ Top 10. John Sebastian 11. Dr. Hook WOW!!! Remember the party at the farmhouse the night before? "Rod Stewart @ Hampton Roads Coliseum " Do you Remember: We couldn't find the car afterwards? Why we couldn't find it? Rod Stewart coming out with white gloves on? Italian restaurant? Getting stuck in traffic in the tunnel on the way home?	"Jethro Tull @ Hampton Roads Coliseum " Do you Remember: How it started? boom...Boom...BOOM... The telephone ringing at the end? Hint: Ian Andersen said, "It's for you..." and walked off the stage. Tripping Birdman? Incredible!

"Raunch n'Roll Festival The Edgar Winter Group, Foghat, Tower of Power, Poco, Spooky Tooth ( Spooky Tooth cancelled) 19 August Frank D. Lawrence Stadium Portsmouth, VA Foghat stoled the show starting when the announcer yelled "“Ladies And Gentlemen, From England, FOGHAT !!" Someone near our internet-pal David M. yelled, "Thank God for the Britsh!" Do you have any stories you can share?	The first of 3 outdoor festivals in that Tidwater area in this 'summer of 73' was at Tidewater Community College in Portsmouth. The line included the Eagles, The J.
